About Us
Welcome to Winner Regional Health
Winner Regional Health (WRH) is pleased to introduce to you their new CEO, Brian G. Williams. Brian will be joining Winner Regional Health on June 20, 2023. He brings more than 14 years of healthcare leadership to WRH, as he previously simultaneously served as the CEO of a Community Health Center and for a Critical Access Hospital under a management agreement between the two organizations. In addition, he has experience with Prospective Payment System (PPS), Rural Health Clinics, Long-Term Care, and Basic Care facilities.
Brian’s journey into healthcare began when his newborn daughter spent ten days in the hospital with RSV. In fact, he stated, “I have found my passion working in rural healthcare. Ensuring that rural communities have access to healthcare services is vital to the future of those communities. Without healthcare, communities struggle to maintain their identity and limits future generations from being part of those communities.”
His vision for WRH over the next five years is to work alongside all employees and collaboratively with the community to make it the healthcare employer and provider of choice. Within his first 90-days, he wants to focus on getting to know the team and learning from them, as well as connecting with members in the community. This collaboration will allow him to work with Board members and employees at all levels to create a strategic plan for the next three years. “The delivery of healthcare is ever changing, as are the expectations of payers and patients, so we must ensure we are changing with those expectations to best serve our surrounding communities.”
Brian looks forward to being involved in the community to represent WRH and to better understand the needs of the community. Over the years, he has been active in the community by serving on several Board of Directors and coaching different sports.
He enjoys spending time with his wife, Linda of 26 years and his five children. They have three older sons attending college and two children that will attend Winner High School this fall, their daughter will be a senior and his youngest son will be a freshmen. Brian enjoys the outdoors, hunting, and fishing; while graciously accepts that his wife is much better at fishing than he is.
Winner Regional Health is excited to have Brian join the team and to continue to oversee high quality healthcare services for the surrounding communities, while identifying areas of potential growth.
A Tradition of Excellence
With a tradition of serving the residents of south-central South Dakota and north-central Nebraska for over 65 years, Winner Regional is proud of its role as the region’s primary healthcare provider. While continuing to offer services both patients and residents have grown to rely on, Winner Regional also places a strong emphasis on the expansion of its services to address the ever changing healthcare needs of those in our area. Through such comprehensive offerings, Winner Regional Healthcare Center is as committed as ever to providing compassionate, quality care, right here close to home.
Locally Owned and Operated
A local, nine person volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing and managing the strategic direction of Winner Regional Health. Each year, the Board chooses three candidates from our local communities to serve three-year terms on the Governing Board. While still locally owned and operated, an agreement with Sanford Health aides the organization with purchasing, training, technology and administration.
As a strong community partner, Winner Regional is committed to providing quality employment opportunities and purchasing local goods whenever possible. Our dedicated staff is comprised of local residents from our communities, contributing significantly to our local economy.

Financials
Note that as of January 1, 2019, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are requiring hospitals to post their “current standard charges.”
Standard charges are the amounts a hospital bills patients and/or insurance companies for the services and procedures performed. However for most patients, hospitals are paid at a level well below standard charges.
Patients covered by commercial insurance companies have negotiated payment rates with hospitals. Patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid programs have payment rates determined by federal and state governments. Patients eligible for financial assistance will also receive lower rates than the standard charges. These payment rates are much lower than standard charges. In non-emergency situations, patients should contact their insurance company to understand the medical costs that they will be responsible to pay.
