MUSC Medical Center

MUSC Medical Center is a key component of MUSC Health. This premier health sciences center is at the forefront of the latest advances in medicine and includes South Carolina’s #1 and most preferred hospital (as ranked by U.S. News & World Report on its Best Hospitals 2018-2019 list and the National Research Corporation respectively), a NCI-designated Cancer Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and South Carolina’s only nationally recognized children’s hospital.

MUSC Physicians consists of renowned health scientists, educators, and clinicians who provide primary care and the widest range of specialty care available within any health system in South Carolina.

MUSC Health Partners

MUSC Health Partners is a comprehensive system of conveniently located health centers dedicated to enhancing health and wellness through primary and specialty care.

MUSC Health Alliance

MUSC Health Alliance is a physician-managed clinically integrated network that aligns other health care organizations with MUSC Health in the delivery of patient-focused, quality-driven, and cost-effective care. It works with insurers and governmental programs in the areas of accountable care, patient-centered medical homes, and value-based care. Sophisticated clinical programs and analytics required under those concepts would be out of reach for many of the participants without the scope of the Alliance.

Integrated Centers of Excellence (ICCE)

MUSC Health’s Integrated Centers of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) are the organizational units of MUSC Health. Committed to care models that improve patient experience and achieve optimal patient outcomes, these comprehensive care teams are led by physician chiefs and are charged with providing patients the most innovative, efficient, and effective subspecialized care. 

Advancing Health Care for Two Centuries

Founded in 1824 in Charleston, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is home to the oldest medical school in the South. We're also the state's only integrated academic health sciences center, serving South Carolina through education, research, and patient care. 

Each year, MUSC educates and trains more than 3,000 students and 850 residents and fellows in six colleges: Dental Medicine, Graduate Studies, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. 

In 2021, MUSC brought in more than $328 million in biomedical research funds, continuing to lead the state in obtaining this funding.
